Ineke Bussemaker is the CEO & Managing Director for National Microfinance Bank PLC (NMB) and assumed the role since early 2015. Prior to her role at NMB, she held senior executive positions at various financial institutions across Europe including Rabobank, ABN Amro and Citibank.
With over 30 years’ experience in the banking sector, Bussemaker obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Leiden University and an MBA in Business and IT from the Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands.
Her wealth of experience includes corporate banking, e-business, transaction banking, country management and policy making.
Whilst working at ABN Amro, Bussemaker and a few of her colleagues founded a senior women’s network in 1990, which was an initiative to empower women at senior positions to voice out issues that greatly affected their careers.
Ineke Bussemaker is passionate about female empowerment and participates in a number of initiatives aimed at ensuring women are empowered to have a voice in order to be contributing members of society for sustainable socio-economic development.
In September 2016, Bussemaker accepted an invitation to join the Board of the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania.
