Yara Tanzania is a fully owned subsidiary of Yara International ASA which was established as Chapa Meli Tanzania Ltd in 2005. To reflect the international family brand, in 2009 it was renamed Yara Tanzania Ltd.

Yara is fully committed to investing and developing agriculture in Tanzania based on the agriculture potential (45m/Ha arable land). It commissioned a fertilizer Terminal in 2015 at the port of Dar Es Salaam with a capacity to handle in excess of 500kT annually (Double the country’s needs).
