Mr. John Sicilima
Country Manager
Mr. John Sicilima is an accomplished executive with over 15 years of leadership experience in the telecommunications sector, spanning commercial strategy, technology operations, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate governance. He currently serves as the Country Manager for Minara Tanzania Limited, bringing deep industry knowledge and a track record of transformational growth across African markets.
Before joining Minara, Mr. John served as Chief Business Officer at Yas Tanzania (formerly Tigo), where he oversaw B2B strategy, P&L management, and spearheaded the rebranding of Tigo Business. He also played a pivotal role as Chief Integration Officer during the successful merger of Tigo and Zantel, overseeing integration planning, execution, and regulatory compliance.
Mr. John’s earlier roles include Acting CEO of Zantel, Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO) at Millicom/Zantel Tanzania, and Regional Manager for IP Networks at Millicom London. His work has spanned operations across Tanzania, Ghana, DRC, Rwanda, Senegal, and the UK—driving major infrastructure projects, cost efficiencies, and service innovation. He was also in the board of WIOCC, representing Honora Tanzania Plc and the Axian Group, and was part of its Audit and HR Committees.
Mr. John holds an MBA in International Business (IIFT India/IFM Tanzania), a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science (VTU India), and is a Certified Director with the Institute of Directors Tanzania.
