Mr Newaj is the founding CEO & Country Director of ASA Microfinance (Tanzania) Limited. With dual Master’s Degrees and over 14 years of professional experience, he is an expert in social development, women empowerment, financial inclusion, and project management. Mr. Newaj has successfully executed strategic initiatives and presented numerous assignments on financial inclusion, women & youth empowerment, digital attachment, and agri-business development, notably in Tanzania and Bangladesh.
Under his leadership, ASA Microfinance has become one of Tanzania’s largest and most compliant microfinance institutions (MFI), boasting a team of over 1500 employees. Throughout his tenure, the team has consistently achieved set targets & objectives, earning recognition as a Champion in Compliance by the Tanzania Revenue Authority and a Champion Winner in Health & Safety awarded by the Occupational Safety & Health Authority.

ASA Microfinance Tanzania Limited (ASA Tanzania) was incorporated under the Companies Act 2002 (No. 93819) of Tanzania in September 2012. ASA Tanzania is a subsidiary of ASA International, one of the largest microfinance companies in the world. ASA Tanzania started operations in 2014.
