
Mr. Steve Kisakye
Founding Partner
Mr. Steve Kisakye is a Founding Partner at Axum, based in Tanzania. He has extensive experience in health, climate change, agriculture, livestock, and youth employment. He specializes in systems change, capacity strengthening, and public-private sector collaboration, working closely with governments, private entities, and development partners.
Steve has led several high-impact initiatives, including the Vaccination Action Network, supporting public sector-led vaccination programs across multiple countries, and played a key role in establishing the Africa Public Health Foundation, mobilizing resources for Africa CDC. He also leads a team embedded within the African Development Bank (AfDB), supporting the Africa Circular Economy Alliance.
Passionate about food systems and the climate-agriculture nexus, Steve has spearheaded the development of National Food Systems Strategies in multiple African countries. His expertise extends to early childhood development, public health, and sustainable agriculture, including efforts to improve food safety and reduce aflatoxins in food crops.
Before Axum, Steve spent nine years in the mining sector across Africa, leading sustainability initiatives, and worked with the Clinton Foundation and Doctors Without Borders on rural health programs. He holds executive accreditations from Harvard, Makerere University, the University of Cape Town, and the University of Witwatersrand.
Steve sits on several boards, including the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation and One Acre Fund Tanzania, contributing to healthcare, agriculture, and sustainable development across the region.
