Doris Mollel
Founder & CEO
Doris William Mollel, a 900g prematurely born, and the Founder and Executive Director of the Doris Mollel Foundation, a non-profit organization she established in February 2015 to promote public awareness about prematurity. In Tanzania alone, more than 336,000 babies are born too soon each year, and more than 11,500 children under five die to direct preterm complications. Having seen some premature born and herself being born premature fuelled her desire to give these beautiful babies a chance to live.
Doris Mollel constantly seeks opportunities to align resources to reduce Tanzania’s burden of preterm birth and its negative impact on health, communities, and economies. Many health institutions in Tanzania and along the East Africa region aim for the horizon of 2030. However, with passion and commitment, she believes that the challenges facing preterm infants could be put to an end in a few years.
