Nehemiah K. Mchechu
Director General
Nehemiah is a transformational business leader, currently the Director General of National Housing Corporation (NHC) which is the largest real estate company in East Africa with a Capital base of over USD 2.0 Billion. He was recruited in NHC to undertake the restructuring of the State-Owned Corporation following his good track record in restructuring the ailing companies.
Nehemiah is also active in the private sector where he has spent most of his career time, before re-joining NHC, he saved as an Executive Chairman for Amboni Group of Companies Limited (AGCL) a company that has investments interest spanning from Real Estate; Education; Hospitality and Tourism; Agricultural and Financial Sector through its various company subsidiaries. He also saved as a CEO of Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) Tanzania Limited, where he was at that time, the youngest CEO within the Banking Sector in East Africa. Nehemiah managed to transform and restructure the company from a loss making to a profit-making bank within the shortest period of time (1 year). Prior to CBA, Nehemiah worked for Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania Limited, Citibank Tanzania Limited and Barclays Bank Tanzania Limited.
Nehemiah chairs other Boards including; Bank of Africa (BOA) Tanzania Ltd, Amboni Sisal Properties Limited (ASPL), Amboni Beach Limited and Rightway Schools and is also a Board Member for TANESCO, TANTRADE, Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TURDACO), CEO Roundtable (CEOrt), Tanzania Mortgage Refinancing Company (TMRC), Watumishi Investment Company, Multichoice Tanzania Limited and is also a member of the ACI Tanzania Governing Council.
He has previously saved as a Board Chairman for National Bank of Commerce, Serengeti Breweries Ltd, NHC/PPF Investment Company Limited and a Vice Board Chairman of Tanzania Mortgage Refinancing Company (TMRC), and a Board member to DAWASCO, Tanzania Investment Center (TIC), KCB Bank, East Africa Breweries Co. Ltd (EABL) among many other Boards that he has previously saved.
He is B-Com Finance Graduate from the University of Dar es Salaam, a Founding member of the CEO Roundtable, a member of ACI-Dealers Association, a fellow of Henry Crown Fellows and Arch. Bishop Tutu Fellows.

National Housing Corporation
The current National Housing Corporation is the outcome of the decision of the Government to dissolve the Register of building (RoB) through Act of Parliament No.2 of 1990, which vested its responsibilities with the NHC. The former NHC was established by Act of Parliament No.45 of 1962, while RoB was established by Act No.13 of 1971.
