Obinna Anyalebechi

Managing Director

Dr. Obinna Anyalebechi is the Managing Director of Serengeti Breweries Limited(SBL) from 1st March 2023.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Obinna was the Field Sales and Operations at Diageo Great Britain for a year and a half where he successfully elevated the levels of customer service, process innovation, and data-driven execution rigor.

He has over 16 years of cognate experience in Marketing and Commercial functions garnered whilst working across different multinationals, brands, and categories. He joined Diageo in 2012 and has held several roles including Customer Marketing Director, in Nigeria and Commercial Director, in Ghana.

Prior to joining Diageo, he held marketing roles at Promasidor Nigeria Limited and Unilever Nigeria PLC.

Obinna holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the Darden School of Business, Cranfield School of Management, and the I.E. Business School. He has also attended management courses at Harvard Business School, Yale School of Management, and IMD.



Serengeti Breweries Ltd

Incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries, Serengeti Breweries Ltd is a major player in Tanzania’s beer and spirits industry with international award-winning brands. Serengeti Breweries Ltd has three operating Breweries: Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, and Moshi.

Associated breweries was acquired by East African Breweries Ltd (EABL) in 2010, and since then the business has more than doubled in its size. The majority stake acquisition by East African Breweries Ltd (EABL)/Diageo in 2010 has seen increased investment in international quality standards leading to more job opportunities for the people of Tanzania. In 2021 the company commissioned a spirits production facility in Moshi brewery to produce local brands such as Bongo Don – SBL’s maiden local spirit brand and Smirnoff orange
