Frederik Grootendorst joined Shell International in 2006, Since then, he has worked for Shell in a wide range of technical, project, commercial and operational domains with deep experience in LNG and integrated gas development as well as in global LNG markets and operating joint ventures. Frederik has worked in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America.
Frederik is a passionate leader of people and teams, a champion of safety and performance and of local capability.
Most recently Frederik was instrumental in the delivery of wide ranging commercial, government and coalition-building stakeholder agreements that underpinned the successful Final Investment Decision of LNG Canada, the largest private investment in the history of Canada.
Frederik has a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from Delft, University of Technology in the Netherlands.
In September 2019, Frederik was appointed Managing Director & Country Chair for Shell Tanzania. In this role he is responsible for all aspects of Shell’s presence in Tanzania including the multi-billion dollar deep water-to-shore Tanzania gas and LNG opportunity.
Frederik, a Dutch citizen, is married to Barbara and have three children.
