Summary
This month’s CEOrt dialogue, “Manufacturing Africa: Minerals-to-Manufacturing Value Chains”, brought members together to reflect on how Tanzania can unlock USD 11.7 billion in value-added revenue and 25,000 jobs through mineral beneficiation, according to the recent findings of a new Manufacturing Africa study, conducted in partnership with ASNL Advisory and McKinsey & Company.
The discussion balanced promise with reality, acknowledging policy shifts, economic pressures, and the need for bankable, inclusive projects. Members stressed that transformation must be Tanzania- and Africa-led, powered by local capital, skills, and partnerships.
With mining already contributing 10% to GDP and gold 80% of exports, the dialogue underscored the urgent need for beneficiation to capture more value locally and translate to the economic value chains.
