With Tanzania having ratified the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), we welcomed Hon. Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, Minister of Industry and Trade to our members’ meeting in November to discuss its impact and opportunities presented for Tanzania’s accelerated growth and development.
Calling for local businesses to be competitive and assuring private sector leaders that the government is committed to forming friendly policies and legislations, Hon. Mkumbo also reminded us of the need to address the human capital skills gap – an area our CEO Apprenticeship Programme precisely targets. Members also raised key concerns with the current operating environment, outlining various aspects that need to be improved, including efficiency scales at regulatory bodies.
As Board Member and MAC Group Chairman and CEO Yogesh Manek pointed out, it is high time Tanzanian companies beat the odds and captured the international market. Competitiveness, here we come.
